Tree Management Service Review

Xyst undertook a comprehensive review of Council’s tree management/urban forest service within the Parks and Gardens Department, to assess organisational capability, service delivery, systems and data governance, policies and procedures, forward planning, and tree risk management practices.

The review evaluated the effectiveness of current operations against industry standards, statutory requirements and recognised best practice, identifying strengths, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.

The project included the development of a detailed findings report and practical improvement plan with prioritised recommendations, to support future service delivery and strategic decision-making.

Project Benefit

The project provided Council with an independent assessment of its tree management/urban forest service and a clear roadmap for continuous improvement by identifying and prioritisation of operational, governance, planning and risk management initiatives. Council now has a structured framework to enhance service efficiency, strengthen risk management outcomes, improve data-driven decision-making and support the long-term sustainability of its urban forest management program. The recommendations were well received by Council and established clear priorities for implementation and ongoing service maturity.
