People with passion for the outdoors

if we can help you deliver a project

While we have impressive experience and expertise, our driving force is our passion for quality parks, public open spaces and community facilities. We know the health and wellbeing of a community is reflected in its outdoor spaces; the places where people go to play and for fresh air and exercise. These spaces ultimately enhance the ‘existence’ of a community.

To create spaces people love to visit, we help local government workers to deliver innovative solutions for their communities, consulting every community stakeholder in each project to ensure it meets their specific needs. Xyst also has a reputation for getting projects done, with practical, feasible and achievable solutions providing value-for-money outcomes.

The word ‘xyst’ comes from Ancient Greek and referred to long porticos used by athletes for exercise.

Later the Romans adopted the word, using it to refer to garden walks or terraces.

There has always been a relationship between exercise, good health and the outdoors, which is why we have embraced the word in our company name, acknowledging a tradition that dates back to ancient times.

Recent Projects

Maribyrnong City Council
The project provided Council with an independent assessment of its tree management/urban forest service and a clear roadmap for continuous improvement by identifying and prioritisation of operational, governance, planning and risk management initiatives. Council now has a structured framework to enhance service efficiency, strengthen risk management outcomes, improve data-driven decision-making and support the long-term sustainability of its urban forest management program. The recommendations were well received by Council and established clear priorities for implementation and ongoing service maturity.
City of Greater Dandenong
Through the spatial mapping of passive park assets, the City Presentation Team now has a comprehensive understanding of the assets they are responsible for, including their location, extent, and the total area under management. This information provides a strong foundation for more informed decision-making, enabling Council to improve operational efficiencies, optimise resource allocation, achieve value for money, and enhance service delivery. The resulting spatial dataset is also essential for supporting future procurement and tendering acitivities, ensuring they can be undertaken fairly, transparently, and competitively.
Willoughby City Council (NSW)
The project delivered a robust, accurate and validated dataset of Council’s park assets, which enabled informed decision making for Council. Some other key benefits included improved accuracy and completeness of asset records, dat-driven prioritisation of maintenance and renewal programs, improved financial forecasting, proactive risk reduction and strategic alignment of service delivery and improvement of public open space. Public open space in turn, contributes to community recreation, amenity and wellbeing.
Blacktown City Council
Blacktown City’s Greenspaces Business Unit sought to conduct a business health check to strategically position itself for the next ten years. The review identifies opportunities for improvement in service delivery, strategic planning, operational structure, financial management, and operational services, and provide actionable recommendations as part of a Greenspace Business Improvement Plan.
