Aidan Perry

Graduate Consultant

Since starting with Xyst, I have been involved with a mixture of tree and asset condition assessments, playground maintenance reports and cemetery reviews. These roles involve working on the ground to provide Council’s with up to date data on their open space areas.

I have also been involved in working alongside council to fill the role of a Public Facilities, Parks and Places Officer. This role covers the day to day management of the council’s parks, cemeteries, pools, halls and pensioner units. This involves auditing to ensure high quality areas are maintained, responding to community requests and planning new features for these areas.

My expertise

During my internship I created a feasibility report for a Kaikoura project and supported senior consultants on other feasibility assessments and projects. I developed a sporting timetable for the Selwyn Sports Centre to ensure smooth and efficient management for the facility and its activities. Throughout these, I  regularly participated in community and stakeholder engagements, presenting data, writing reports and developing relationships within the community.

My enthusiasm is bringing knowledge, passion and motivation to improve community wellbeing. I have refined leadership, organisational and communication skills through my commitments in sports captaincy, coaching hockey teams and being the youth grade  co-ordinator for his sports club. At Lincoln University I stood as President of the Recreation Society, creating networking events with sector professionals and Generate NZ.

Xyst in action

I have recently been involved in a track and signage condition assessment. The assessment started by walking the relevant tracks to identify existing signage and potential areas where signage was needed, as well as assessing track conditions and the difficulty level of each track. Once this was a completed, a report with our findings and recommendations was developed for Council.

This signage assessment plays a significant part in improving the health and safety of track users, reducing the chances of getting lost or in danger. It also helps the user understand the condition and level of difficulty of the track.
