Xyst physically inspected all playgrounds over a period of 2 weeks against the current NZ Playground Safety and Surfacing Standards – NZS 5828:2015 producing individual safety compliance reports for each asset including reasons for failures or non-compliance. We compiled a summary report of suggested actions/recommendations including risk rating and suggested prioritisation.
We also conducted play surface impact testing to assess the attenuation properties on all unitary/synthetic surfacing making recommendations for remedial actions.
In addition, we provided an updated playground ground asset list for all 178 assets including overall condition and estimated remaining life for ongoing asset renewal planning.
